OCD is a mental health condition characterized by persistent and intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) aimed at reducing anxiety or distress caused by these obsessions.

When providing counseling to children with OCD, I employ a comprehensive and individualized approach. Firstly, I conduct a thorough assessment to gain a comprehensive understanding of the child’s symptoms, triggers, and the impact of OCD on their daily life. This assessment involves gathering information from the child, their parents or caregivers, and teachers or other relevant individuals involved in the child’s life.

Once the assessment is complete, I work collaboratively with the child and their family to develop a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. This plan typically includes evidence-based interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which has been proven effective in treating OCD in children.
