We found that these individuals had significantly higher levels of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) than residents of a control community that had not experienced flooding. The study also revealed that the more exposure to flooding a person had, the more severe their mental health symptoms.

In another study, we conducted focus groups with farmers in the Midwest who were experiencing firsthand the effects of climate change, such as extreme heat, drought, and flooding.
