As an environmental psychologist, I have had the opportunity to work on several projects related to sustainable transportation and commuting. One notable project involved examining the impact of a new bike-sharing program on commuters’ behavior and attitudes towards sustainable transportation options.
In this project, we conducted surveys and interviews with participants who had access to the bike-sharing program. We aimed to understand the psychological factors that influenced their decision to utilize the bikes and how it affected their overall commuting experience. Through our research, we discovered that individuals who had a positive attitude towards sustainability and were motivated by environmental concerns were more likely to use the bike-sharing program regularly. Additionally, we found that the convenience and accessibility of the program played a significant role in encouraging individuals to adopt sustainable transportation habits.
Another project I worked on focused on designing and evaluating the effectiveness of a workplace initiative aimed at promoting carpooling among employees. We conducted focus groups and administered questionnaires to understand the psychological barriers and motivations related to carpooling.
