To address their depression, I incorporated various music therapy techniques and interventions. Initially, I focused on establishing a therapeutic relationship built on trust and empathy. This allowed the client to feel safe and secure in expressing their emotions through music.
I began by using a technique called lyric analysis, where we explored song lyrics that resonated with the client’s experiences and emotions. We would discuss the meaning behind the lyrics and how they related to their own struggles. This process provided an outlet for the client to express their feelings and gain insight into their own emotions.
